The performance of the proposed methodology is evaluated by using the number of alive nodes, residual energy and throughput. Clustering is a popular unsupervised data analysis process which can be used to identify similar or dissimilar set of objects based on their characteristics. The ALL-IDB2 database, a skin lesion data set, and a total of 15 UCI data sets are employed to evaluate efficiency of the proposed FA models on clustering tasks.

The chapter also discusses why FA is to be more useful for clustering over other methods and what features made it more suitable for handling the clustering problem compared with other meta-heuristics. To investigate the performance of the proposed hybrid algorithm, it is compared with four popular metaheuristic methods from literature using twelve standard datasets from the UCI Machine Learning Repository and the two moons dataset. A cluster can be defined as a collection of objects which are “homogeneous” between them and are “heterogeneous” to the objects belonging to other clusters.
