He named his chief protagonist Richard Sharpe, a rifleman involved in most major battles of the Peninsular War. This series of novels tells the legend of Arthur from the point of view of one of his men Derfel Cadarn, now an aged Christian monk, who in his earlier days was a warrior in Arthur’s service.

As I mentioned in my previous review, I’ve never bothered to start Cornwell’s work, it brings me joy when someone, a friend (even better again when it’s from one of your favorite authors) recommended a book/series to you and you loved it. The religious struggle between the old pagan gods and the growing influence of Christianity is very intriguing. The usual suspects, greed, power, sex, revenge and religion, keep getting in the way of Arthur's aspirations of becoming a farmer.

For fans of Arthur and his knights, this is a unique take upon the tale that stands out from the crowd. It continues the unique historical perspective about the origins of Arthur and his band of loyal warriors.

An enemy is one who dislikes or hates another and seeks to harm, contradict, and fight the one he is set against. Arthur believes none of this mystical nonsense, and is up to his elbows just trying to keep the Saxons from invading Britain.

With Lancelot in retreat, Arthur grimly asserts to Derfel that their oath to the deceased Uther binds them to acclaim Mordred as Dumnonia's king, but he will be a pure figurehead, and Arthur himself will be the land's sole ruler. Yet, it appears that the idealism of Arthur does indeed have value because, although quite misguided, his naive do-goodery serves as an incidental foil to the unrelenting treachery that abounds from enemies both within and the Saxons without.Prior to forming their new alliance, Pilate and Herod Antipas were fiercely hostile toward one another. It is the very act that causes Him to decide to rise up and to do something to bring you back to where you ought to be! Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. Significavam que Artur seria o rei de Dumnonia em todos os sentidos, menos no nome, e por este bom objetivo levaríamos nossas lanças à guerra.

During that time when you wandered away from the Lord, did you sense that God was supernaturally working behind the scenes to get your attention and to bring you back home spiritually? Angered by the injustice of his friend's death, Derfel angrily breaks off his friendship with Arthur. Merlin is questing for relics that will bring the Old Gods to Britain, push out the Christian God and help Britain against the many invaders. This second book in the Warlord Chronicles Trilogy lagged a little bit in the middle but ended on a very exciting note! He really struggles with Welsh words and by this point he should have mastered it and the producer should have got him a coach. The Gothenburg influences of the band's previous album, Violent Revolution, became more prominent on this album. This story will see finally the kingdoms united under Warlord Arthur to take the fiels as one front against the Saxons and be victorious.
