Description

Though attributed to the legendary Hellenistic figure Hermes Trismegistus, the text of the Emerald Tablet first appears in a number of early medieval Arabic sources, the oldest of which dates to the late eighth or early ninth century. For example, in the Book of Crates, while praying in the temple of Serapis, Crates, a Greek philosopher, has a vision of "an old man, the most beautiful of men, seated in a chair. Many manuscripts of this copy of the Emerald Tablet and the commentary of Ortolanus survive, dating at least as far back as the fifteenth century. Ortolanus, like Albertus Magnus before him saw the tablet as a cryptic recipe that described laboratory processes using deck names (or code words). I am doubtful of the supposed origin of this book, which I will not rehash here (see other reviews), and did not find a need to do so.

There was a quote that I liked, “ their discovery of knowledge only made their (spiritual) journey longer”. It has long been debated whether it is an extraneous piece, solely cosmogonic in nature, or if it is an integral part of the rest of the work, in which case it has an alchemical significance from the outset. Scholars speak of the Emerald Tablet as one of the most mysterious documents ever put before the eyes of man, and describe it as everything from a succinct summary of Neoplatonic philosophy, to an extraterrestrial artifact, to a gift from Atlantis. Historic accounts describe it as a slab of brilliant, crystalline green stone covered with bas-relief Phoenician text. Three escutcheons represent, according to the poem, the three principles ( tria prima) of the alchemical theory of Paracelsus: Eagle/Mercury/Spirit, Lion/Sulfur/Soul, and Star/Salt/Body.

Skip it and pick up a softcover of the Cthulhu Mythos or The Coming Race if you're wanting for Each king possesses a distinct group of texts, different from the other kings’, but they are all used for the same goal and in exactly the same physical context. I just heard about them, but it seems like it’s just the conspiracy theorists who are talking about them. Thus thou wilt possess the glory of the brightness of the whole world, and all obscurity will fly far from thee.

Vulgate (from the Liber Hermetis de alchimia or Liber dabessi) [ edit ] Latin text of the Vulgate Emerald Tablet, from MS Arundel 164, folio 155r.The other society I mentioned, the Great White Lodge, is not real in a physical sense of things but is the name given by some new agers to a society of ascended masters who are watching over humans' spiritual progress and evolution. David Litwa also includes two translations of it in his Hermetica II (containing plenty of Hermetic texts, excerpts of texts, and testimonia from sources other than the more famous Corpus Hermeticum and Asclepius texts).

The Emerald Tablet, also known as the Smaragdine Tablet or the Tabula Smaragdina (Latin, from the Arabic: لَوْح الزُّمُرُّذ, Lawḥ al-zumurrudh), is a compact and cryptic Hermetic text.

All of what this book presents is a pure foundation and representation of you and your soul connection. The book as a whole is an encyclopedic treatment of many things, not least of which were alchemical concoctions and magical talismans, and in this book is a vignette that shows how a narrator entered into a tomb of Hermēs Trismegistos and encountered the Emerald Tablet. The Tablet is attributed to the legendary figure of Hermes Trismegistus, said to be an ancient philosopher, healer and sage. The discussions continue, and the treatises of Ole Borch and Kriegsmann are reprinted in the compilation Bibliotheca Chemica Curiosa (1702) by the Swiss physician Jean-Jacques Manget. prodigiorum operatio ex uno, quemadmodum omnia ex uno eodemque ducunt originem, una eademque consilii administratione.

As for the alchemical teaching of the Emerald Tablet, it is not limited to the philosopher's stone and the transmutation of metals but concerns "the deepest substance of each thing," the alchemists' quintessence. The image, which is from Heinrich Khunrath's Amphitheatre of Eternal Wisdom (1609), also appears on a metal door in the caves that are central to the plot. He who knows the inner fire that is within himself shall ascend unto the eternal fire and dwell in it eternally. For example, in 1733, according to the alchemist Ehrd de Naxagoras ( Supplementum Aurei Velleris), a "precious emerald plate" engraved with inscriptions and the symbol was made upon Hermes' death and found in the valley of Ebron by a woman named Zora.D., is the Spiritual; Teacher of a multitude of Seekers of Light, having founded a Metaphysical Church and College - The Brotherhood of the White Temple, Inc. The “Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean” are a channeled text, supposedly a “translation” of a 36,000 year old text put out by one M. Alchemical traditions, whether European, Middle Eastern, or Asian, pursue the same prize—the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone.
